Dumpster Rental 101 — From the Person Who Actually Books Them All Day

Need a dumpster rental but have no clue where to start? You’re not alone — whether it’s for a garage cleanout, a renovation, or that half-finished demo your cousin started last summer, I’ve helped book it all.
I handle dumpster rentals every single day, and I’m here to walk you through exactly what you need to know. No fluff. No sales pitch. Just real answers from a real person who actually picks up the phone.
1. We Offer 4 Dumpster Rental Sizes — Don’t Overthink It
Most customers don’t know what size they need, and that’s totally normal. Here’s the quick breakdown of what we offer:
If you’re stuck between two, go with the bigger one. Overfilling is more expensive than just having enough room to begin with.
2. You Need to Put Down Wood — We Don’t Supply It
The dumpster gets placed on wood to help protect your driveway or surface. You’re responsible for having that wood ready when we deliver — two 2x6s or 2x8s are perfect. If there’s no wood, we still deliver, but we’re not responsible for any damage. Fair is fair.

3. Clear the Drop Spot — Or You Might Get a Trip Fee
Please double-check that the spot is accessible. No cars, no locked gates, no construction equipment in the way. If we show up and can’t drop the container, we’ll have to reschedule — and there’s a $150 trip charge if it happens.
4. Not Everything Can Go In
Here’s what can’t go in our dumpsters:
Paint, oil, or any hazardous material
Propane tanks or compressed gas
Dirt, rock, concrete, or brick — unless it’s a specific clean fill load
Always better to ask before you toss. I’d rather you call me and double-check than get hit with fees later.
5. You Get 14 Days — Let Me Know If You Need More
All rentals are for 2 weeks. That usually gives you plenty of time, but if you need it longer, just give me a heads-up. We’re flexible when we can be — but if you go past the week without letting us know, there’s an additional charge.

6. Level Loads Only — Please Don’t Pile it Up
This is a big one. The dumpster needs to be level at the top — not overflowing, not mounded, not strapped down with bungee cords. If it’s too full or unsafe, our drivers legally can’t haul it. That means extra fees and delays. Keep it simple: fill it to the top edge, and no higher. Always make sure the door can close and lock.
7. Ask Questions — That’s What I’m Here For
Booking a dumpster isn’t something people do every day, so don’t feel weird asking questions. I’d rather explain everything clearly upfront than have you surprised later. My job is to make it easy — not confusing.
